It is the simplest way to start a new bed without having to let it age to create a population of beneficial microbes that are necessary for healthy composting. Spread half of the contents on the bottom of your bin, then mix the other half with your bedding whether it be coco coir, peat moss, shredded paper, shredded newspapers, or leaves.
