This mint came into our lives when my grandparents and I decided to build a greenhouse around the year of 2007. I was doing some research for plants that I wanted us to offer when I came across a lady living in Liberty, SC that grew plants in her backyard for profit. She told me about a mint she had that smelled like a freshly opened pack of juicy fruit gum. I had only knew about peppermint and spearmint, so we had to visit her to see for ourselves. On arrival she had a potted mint in her hand and she said smell this and tell me what you think. Instantly I was taken back to my childhood of buying large bulk packs of Juicy Fruit Gum at the store and opening them to smell the wrapper as that piece of gums flavor danced around my tastebuds. I couldn't believe it. How could a plant smell like that. I had to have one. So she showed me a few other mints and I left with a lot of starter plants. Unfortunately we lost all of our plants in 2010 because I fell in love with this girl I thought was the one. I spent so much time chasing after her becaua e She wasn't faithful, that I lost interest in caring for the plants. My wife came in the picture while that girl and I was trying to hang on by a thread. I'm glad because I was tired of getting hurt. When I finally got back on track I reached out to Melissa, the lady I originally got it from to see if she still had it, but she no longer was growing plants due to her health. Nobody else has ever offered it since. I watched every classified, forum, and website I could. Then one day, about a month before my 6th wedding anniversary to my lovely wife Brittany I found it. Could it be. I made contact with the person and explained how I lost our original plants and that I had told my wife about it for years but never could find it. It would be the perfect wedding anniversary gift because we are so untraditional. When they replied they said they only did local sales and didn't do mail order. However the woman said she loved a good love story and would see what she could do. After weeks of communication they agreed if I spent a minimum of $30 they would do it once and one time only. It added much stress to their everyday work load they already had. So with our Anniversary being on October 24th 2020, they finally had the package in the mail to me on October 22nd 2020. Talking about cutting it close. It would be arriving on our anniversary. So when it arrived I told my wife to open the box because I had told her, her wedding anniversary gift was coming in the mail. That is how we finally got this very rare unusual mint back after thinking it was gone forever. Now we will be keeping it planted in several places so we won't lose it again.
